Formulation Summary

A barrier-repair treatment that works two ways: it delivers ceramides and other lipids your skin needs, and it includes niacinamide to help your skin produce more ceramides on its own. Best for dehydrated skin or skin that's been stressed by retinoids or exfoliating acids.

This formula uses a ceramide blend (SK-Influx at 10%) that mimics the natural fats in your skin. It contains ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids in a ratio similar to what your skin already has. It also includes 4% niacinamide, which research shows helps your skin produce more ceramides on its own. You're getting lipids delivered directly and helping your skin make more.

The Formulation Explained

Barrier-mimicking lipids

Stratia Lipid Gold's formula is built around SK-Influx, a ceramide complex containing ceramides, cholesterol, phytosphingosine, and fatty acids: the same lipid types that make up your skin's moisture barrier. The ratio is designed to approximate what healthy skin naturally has, so you're replenishing what compromised skin is missing rather than just adding moisture on top.

Niacinamide for ceramide support

At 4%, niacinamide is within the concentration range (2-5%) that's been studied for barrier support, sebum regulation, and hyperpigmentation fading. Research also links niacinamide to increased ceramide production, which complements the direct lipid delivery. You're getting lipids applied topically and supporting your skin's ability to make more on its own.

Worth noting: user feedback suggests barrier repair is the most consistent benefit. Brightening and oil control results are more variable.

Suitable for sensitive skin, with caveats

The brand positions this for all skin types, especially sensitive or dehydrated skin, and provides appropriate qualifications: oily skin may find it moisturizing enough on its own, dry skin may need to layer something richer on top, and very pale skin may notice a temporary orange tint from the sea buckthorn oil.

What's not in here

No added fragrance, no denatured alcohol, no essential oils, no common fragrant compounds like limonene or linalool.

The formula does include two ingredients worth knowing about if you have sensitive skin:

  • Diazolidinyl Urea: a formaldehyde-releasing preservative. It's considered safe at cosmetic concentrations by the CIR, but some people prefer to avoid this ingredient class.
  • Cetyl Alcohol: a fatty alcohol (not the drying kind). Generally well-tolerated, but occasionally a factor for people who react to this product.

Ingredients to Know

Cetyl AlcoholComedogenicity: 2/5Irritancy: 2/5

Fatty alcohol (not drying alcohol). Generally well-tolerated, but noted in some user reactions.

Diazolidinyl Urea

Formaldehyde-releasing preservative. CIR considers safe at cosmetic concentrations. Some consumers prefer to avoid.

SqualaneComedogenicity: 1/5

Olive-derived in this formula. Some individuals report sensitivity to olive-derived oils.

Methylparaben / Propylparaben

Effective, well-studied preservatives. Some consumers prefer paraben-free products.

User Feedback Patterns

Delayed reaction:Some users report initial success followed by breakouts after 2+ weeks of daily use. A subset found success by reducing frequency.
Cross-reactivity:Users who report reactions to Dr. Jart Ceramidin or products with olive-derived squalane sometimes report similar issues with Lipid Gold.
Individual sensitivity:Some individuals react to ingredients well-tolerated by most. Cetyl Alcohol or other ingredients may be factors.
