Formulation Summary

A brightening cream built on 67.3% acerola vitamin water with 5% niacinamide and 3% tranexamic acid. This is the cream companion to the Vitamin Illuminating Serum, adding tranexamic acid as an additional melanin-targeting active. The formula includes liposomal vitamin C capsules that burst on application.

EQQUALBERRY upgrades the brightening approach from the serum by adding 3% tranexamic acid. TXA works by inhibiting plasmin activity, which reduces UV-induced melanin production through a different pathway than niacinamide or arbutin. The 67.3% acerola water base is higher than the serum's 40%. Niacinamide increases to 5% from 4% in the serum. Meadowfoam seed oil provides occlusion without heavy silicones. The formula excludes fragrance and parabens.

Key Ingredients

IngredientConcentrationFunction
Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Water67.3%brand-confirmedPrimary solvent providing natural vitamin C. Higher concentration than the serum version (40%). Delivers antioxidant activity from the base.
Niacinamide5%brand-confirmedInhibits melanin transfer to skin surface. At 5%, sits at the research-supported concentration for brightening benefits.
Tranexamic Acid3%brand-confirmedInhibits plasmin activity to reduce melanin production triggered by UV exposure. Complements niacinamide by targeting a different step in the pigmentation pathway.

The Formulation Explained

Tranexamic acid addition

The cream adds 3% tranexamic acid, absent from the serum. TXA is gaining popularity for hyperpigmentation treatment. Clinical studies show efficacy at 2-5% for melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Combined with niacinamide and acerola vitamin C, this creates a triple-pathway brightening approach.

Higher acerola concentration

At 67.3% acerola water versus 40% in the serum, this cream delivers more plant-derived vitamin C from its base. The trade-off is that the cream contains silicone derivatives (vinyl dimethicone) that the serum avoids.
